OWU Self-Service
  Help on Class Schedule
General Information
This feature lets you display a list of open and/or closed classes for a given session, year, and department. In addition you can limit the display to classes that only meet during specified days and/or times and search across all departments for those classes.
Note that the session and year you specify in this feature are not tied to any default session and year you may have saved for your 'Current Options Settings' but are limited to this screen only.
Instructions
  1. Choose the desired session from the Session list.
  2. Choose a year from the Year list.
  3. Choose a department from the Department list. If you choose '(Any department)', then you must also specify either meeting days or times or both. (See next.)
  4. If desired, check specific days of the week from the Days and Times section to limit your search to classes which meet on that combination of days only.
  5. If desired, choose a start time from the Starts on or after list to limit your search to classes which start on or after the specified time.
  6. If desired, choose an end time from the Ends on or after list to limit your search to classes which end on or before the specified end time.
  7. If desired, check the Show open classes only checkbox to limit the output to open classes.
  8. Click the Go! button to see the class schedule.

  1. The Op column shows whether the course is open (Y) or closed (N).
  2. The Rg/Mx column shows the number of students currently registered and the maximum number of students allowed in the course. Note: This information is current as of the most recent registrations that have been added to the CARS database by the Registrar. The number of registered students may exceed the maximum number of students if an instructor has given special enrollment permission to one or more students.
  3. The Course column shows the course number and section number of the class. If a Textbooks link appears beneath the course number, then clicking that link will take you to a page with textbook information.
  4. The Title column shows the course title.
  5. The Meets At column shows the times and days for the class. If the class has multiple combinations of meeting days and times, all combinations are shown. In the list of days, "U" means Sunday, "M" means Monday, "T" means Tuesday, "W" means Wednesday, "R" means Thursday, "F" means Friday, and "S" means Saturday. A hyphen "-" means no class meets on that day. Thus, "-M-W-F-" means the class meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only.
  6. The Instr column shows the instructor's abbreviated name.
  7. The Units column shows the unit value of this course.
  8. The Room column shows the room assignment for the course.
Any additional comments about this course, such as prerequisites, are displayed just below the course title using the same color.
Questions and Answers
Q: I keep getting a message that says that no courses were found. Why?
A: That means that there are no classes in the registration tables which meet the criteria you specified. Check your settings carefully, particularly the session and year. Note that day criteria are all inclusive, which means that if you specify Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, you will not get a course that only meets on Wednesday.
